Wondering what to do with your old patio furniture? Just because you’ve had the same furniture for years, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. Here are five tips for using and reusing old patio furniture.
Repaint It
There’s nothing better to restore the look of old furniture than to repaint it. Repainting your chairs and tables and applying a new finish will make the furniture look like new again, regardless of whether it is made out of wood or another material.
Remove Rust
Before you repaint your furniture, make sure to remove any rust. You can use a wire brush to gently scrape off the rust. Remove the rust even if you aren’t planning on repainting the furniture.
Get New Cushions
Putting new upholstery on your furniture is another thing that will give it an entirely different and new look. If you don’t want to spend money on new furniture, consider getting new cushions to cover them. For your table, you can get a new tablecloth and umbrella.
Fasten and Strengthen
Old furniture can get weaker over time. Nuts and bolts can get loose, making the furniture more likely to break and less safe to sit on. Before repainting the furniture, get out some tools and fasten any loose nuts and bolts.
New Glass
If your table has a glass top, consider getting a new glass pane if your old glass pane is cracked or chipped. If it is covered with stains, at least have it cleaned thoroughly.
